Dear reader,
fashionwise I think we do live in wonderful times. Brogues and nerd glasses are super hip, there's lace pretty much everywhere, and you can find cameos und and ribbons again in fashion magazines. As for myself, I can say, I couldn't be happier.
Except... except I live in a small town.
There's no hip parties to go to.
There's absolutely nothing to dress up for!
Whenever I want to try something new, something I've seen in some magazine, people look at me weird.
Plus fancy eccentric things are so damn are to get a hold of!
How wonderful and easy it must be to live a big city with a Topshop and flea markets and crazy unusual creative shops?
It is the place where fashion and style are born, a place sparkling with creativity and inspiration.
There is the opportunity and the invitation to find your own style, to dress differently, and add a new shade to the colors of the city.
Sadly most people grow up in pretty small towns with their standartized clothing and prejudices...
Still, there are some brave creatures out there who celebrate their being different and it always makes me happy whenever I spot one of them. Thank you, guys!
Thank you for saying NO to jeans and sweaters, for making the effort of putting some care and character into the clothes you put on.
And I don't want to put people down who do not have a crazy style, I just hate how we don't have a choice what to buy, how the development of an individual style is being suppressed in small towns.
Haha, okay, maybe I'm a bit hard on small town here, but seriously, sometimes it's quite depressing!
So I was thinking, I might do something like small town street fashion photography...
But until I get around to doing that, I will try to find ways to dress differently and stylishly with stuff that is fairly easy to find.
Because living in a small town is no reason not to be able to love fashion.
And you do not have to look like a model to look good :).
Enjoy :),
love, M.
